If you want to know why the doctors, some of the recommendations they do, then is the book for you. As a doctor and a patient, Reznik helps us to understand what motivates our doctors and why they often say what they do. "The Secrets of Medical Decision Making" is a book we can all benefit from reading, because we all need health care at a certain time, or we are in the situation, the medical decisions for another. Oleg I. Reznik, MD has a goal, we are aware and informed in the medical decisions we make, so we would have a much better health care than we currently have.

Reznik calls our current health care system, the Healthcare machine because it has become so mechanical. So many requirements must be satisfied that it is almost like an assembly line. As patients, we must have the freedom of our choices and the question of the system. The doctors and other health workers are in a position The Medical Box within the Healthcare machine because it is under pressure, that there is only one standard, mechanical response to a particular set of problems. As patients, we must aware of this system and the way it works, so can we talk about the borders. Doctors are not omnipotent, so many of us want to believe, and they are of such a burden, but so often, they are forced to stay "in-the-box" to protect.

To our understanding of the material he presents Reznik with four different angles with each topic. Patient / family perspective deals with issues that would be for most potential patients and their families. Physician's Perspective is the view of physicians discussed topic. Societal perspective, the impact on society as a whole. Spiritual / philosophical perspective, talks about the spiritual and philosophical aspects of medical care, because they can not by any attempt to understand a human being. Dr. Reznik presents true stories of actual clinical trials in his book to explain the "rules" in this game of health care. He wants us to understand what the doctor drives, so that we can learn to be more self-confidence to leave.

I have the information about the various medical tests to be very informative. We are some questions to consider before agreeing to a test and the reasons why the doctors, the tests to begin with. Reznik speaks in detail about prostate screening and treatment of prostate cancer, mammography, and how the statistics on cancer survival are so far advanced. All information is quite interesting and worth the time to read to make an informed person.

Everyone can not find any information provided by Reznik to be relevant, but we can all benefit from the ideas. I personally would feel less intimidated the next time I ask, "Why?" If the doctor recommends something I'm not sure. Take your health and do what is best for you. Reading this book is worth it is about time that someone would like an informed patient.
