In 1996, Congress of the United States to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, most known as HIPAA. This law was adopted to protect the health information of a person, while at the same time, the appropriate exchange of information between the scheduled facilities such as pharmacies, doctors and hospitals, to name a few. Health care providers and in the fields of Allied Health now have access to HIPAA medical software that was developed to ensure compliance with the law.
The United States Department of Health and Human Services, which sets the standards for privacy of individually identifiable health (commonly known as the Privacy Rule) for the implementation of the requirements of HIPAA. This is the first time in the United States history that a series of national standards have been adopted to protect the privacy of personal medical information. As with any government document, it is very difficult to understand the language of the Privacy Rule, and even more difficult to understand fully all HIPAA.
So what has this to do with HIPAA medical software? Well, as already mentioned, health care or Allied Health professional must be fully compliant with HIPAA. A wise man once said that ignorance of the law is no excuse.
To help those in the field of medicine, the protection of the rights of patients and at the same time (if necessary) access to this information, HIPAA medical software performs the following:
* Performs as changes in the information management deals.
* Issues such as encoding.
* Issues relating to the security of IT systems.
* Changes in patient management.
* Rationalized insurance reimbursement.
* Handles patient care issues.
Since most doctors are switching from a paper-based office management system to a computer (and thus digital or electronic) based office management system, the wise doctor will want to buy HIPAA medical software to facilitate the transition from paper to digital. There is no need to reinvent the wheel, after all, and if a software program means that your practice is HIPAA compliant, you are before the game.
With a good HIPAA medical software program means that your practice is in accordance with the Act of 1996, by the Congress, at least as far as the law has been implemented until now. Many rules of HIPAA yet to be written, and hold your HIPAA medical software update is also a wise decision.
